As conservationists, advocates and animal lovers, a “Blue Cove Day” is one of the greatest things to experience. A Blue Cove Day means that the “fishermen” in Taiji, Japan, have not been successful in their mission to hunt dolphins – the cove will run blue with clean, fresh seawater, and no pod of dolphins captured or slaughtered.
During dolphin hunting season, which begins on September 1st each year and runs until March, Blue Cove Days are unfortunately not a common occurrence. Only when a pod manages to escape, or the weather is too bad for the boats, do dolphin hunters stop their cruel pursuit.
Australia for Dolphins looks forward to a time when every day of the year will be a Blue Cove Day – please join us and help protect dolphins from cruelty.
