Red Cove Day

September 1, 2014 by Australia for Dolphins

Australia for Dolphins

In announcing a “Red Cove Day”, Australia for Dolphins is acknowledging the brutal slaughter of dolphins and small whales that takes place at the infamous cove in Taiji, Japan. From September through to March, thousands of dolphins are killed in the cove, and hundreds are taken for a miserable life of captivity in aquariums.

Veterinary studies have concluded that the killing method used in Taiji would register “at the highest level of gross trauma, pain and distress”. Dolphins are incredibly intelligent and self-aware mammals – they deserve better treatment and AFD is working hard to gain better legal protection for dolphins in countries like Japan.

Please join us and together, we can put an end to the unthinkable cruelty that is dolphin hunting.
